My Lord,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Tordship's despatch No. 183. of the 29th July, 1929, and to state that the report, published in the
"Daily Tail" of the 6th July, is in the main correct,
a Chinese woman being convicted and fined $25 for
breach of Section 4 of the Terale Domestic Service
Ordinance 1923 by unlawfully taking into her employment
a lui Tani aged 14. This was the first
prosecution under that section of the Crdinance.
Among the documents relating to the acquisition of
the girl was an adoption deed in the usual Chinese
